Apple Tests New iPhone Design for 20th Anniversary
Apple is reportedly testing prototypes of the latest iPhone Pro models, which are said to feature a new screen design. The information was first shared by renowned Chinese gadget tipster Digital Chat Station (DGS) on social media platform Weibo. According to DGS, the devices possibly named iPhone 19 Pro and 19 Pro Max would feature a quad-curved display, with curves on all four sides. If accurate, Apple would be one of the major vendors to reintroduce curved screens, creating a bezel-less design on all sides. The quad-curved trend was previously popular among Android manufacturers before many shifted to flat displays, following Apple’s lead. The Face ID system is reportedly placed under the display panel, making it invisible from the outside. This approach is said to create a cleaner front display with fewer visible components on the screen surface. Meanwhile, a special edition iPhone for the 20th anniversary is rumoured to feature an uninterrupted display, offering a fully immersive screen. However, Apple reportedly still faces challenges in concealing the front camera under the display without compromising photo quality. Therefore, the front camera may still appear as a punch hole if current under-display camera tech doesn’t meet Apple’s quality standards. Previous reports suggested Apple is preparing significant changes for its 2027 iPhone lineup, including the special edition models mentioned. Leaks indicate these devices are expected to be unveiled by Apple to mark its 20th anniversary, according to KompasTekno’s compilation from GSMArena. It’s worth noting that despite being referred to as iPhone 19 Pro in various leaks, there’s no guarantee Apple will use this naming convention upon official release. We’ll have to wait and see.
