Apple tests four designs for smart glasses to be released in 2027

Jakarta (ANTARA) - Apple is reportedly testing four designs for upcoming smart glasses, with plans to launch the first product in 2027. According to a Bloomberg report cited by TechCrunch on Sunday local time, Apple is expected to introduce the device by the end of this year. It is known that Apple continues to develop its smart glasses strategy and is now testing several design options before determining the final version to be marketed. Apple is also considering various colour options such as black, navy blue, and light brown. The development of these glasses is seen as a simpler step compared to Apple’s initial ambitious plans to introduce various mixed reality and augmented reality devices. Unlike those headsets, Apple’s smart glasses are said not to be equipped with a display. The device is more focused on practical functions such as taking photos and videos, receiving phone calls, playing music, and interacting with voice assistant Siri updates. In concept, the device is said to be closer to smart glasses like the Ray-Ban Meta Smart Glasses developed by Meta, with a lightweight and everyday use approach.
