Apple Teams Up with Samsung Rival to Develop New Revenue Stream
Apple is beginning to move beyond the mobile phone industry and into the smart-home sector. The latest reports say the iPhone maker is developing several devices with LG.
A Bloomberg report says the joint products will include smart locks, thermostats and doorbells.
Reports also suggest the devices will carry the South Korean technology giant’s brand rather than Apple’s, TechCrunch reported on Tuesday (13 October 2026).
Apple and LG are also working on a range of security cameras and floodlights. The devices are expected to be announced soon.
Some of the products developed with LG are designed to integrate with Apple’s smart-home hub, which is due to be released next Wednesday, 13 October 2026.
The hub is designed as a six-inch square screen that can be placed on a table or mounted on a wall at home.
According to Bloomberg, as cited by MacDailyNews, the device has a design reminiscent of the iMac G4. Its display will include a front-facing FaceTime camera, microphones and speakers.
The HomePad will serve as a controller for HomeKit devices and display widgets and personalised information. Support for the latest Siri AI is also expected.
Apple will also introduce a new HomePod mini and an updated Apple TV.
