Apple Stops Selling This Mac Mini Version, Removed from Official Website

Apple has stopped selling one model of the Mac Mini powered by the M4 chip. The discontinued model is the most basic version with 256 GB storage capacity. Since April, stocks of the Mac Mini M4 256 GB at Apple Stores in various countries, including the United States, have become scarce. Now, that variant of the Mac Mini has been removed from Apple’s website worldwide. This confirms that Apple is no longer providing the base Mac Mini variant for users. Nevertheless, Apple continues to offer other Mac Mini variants, namely those with 512 GB storage capacity and 16 GB RAM. There are also two other RAM options, namely 24 GB and 32 GB, as well as storage options up to 1 TB or 2 TB if users need larger capacity. Apple did not provide further details on why it stopped selling the base M4 Mac Mini. The M4 Mac Mini itself was first released in 2024. Cook also stated that it would take several months for Apple to catch up with the surge in demand. “For the Mac Mini and Mac Studio, both are exceptional platforms for AI and agent-based tools, and customer recognition of that happened faster than we thought, so we found demand higher than we anticipated,” Cook said at the time. With the discontinuation of the Mac Mini M4 256 GB, the cheapest variant of the mini PC is now the 512 GB version, priced at $799 (approximately Rp 13.8 million). This is more expensive than the 256 GB version, which was sold for $599 (approximately Rp 10.4 million), as compiled by KompasTekno from GSM Arena on Monday (4/5/2026). The Mac Mini with the M4 chip was released alongside the M4 Pro version. This mini PC features an even more compact design, so it does not take up much space on a desk or shelf. On paper, the latest Mac Mini measures 12.7 cm x 12.7 cm (5 inches). This size is smaller than the M2 series Mac Mini, which measures 19.6 cm x 19.6 cm. However, in terms of height, the M4 and M4 Pro Mac Mini are taller (5 cm) compared to the previous version (3.5 cm). Apple has also reduced the weight of the M4 series Mac Mini to nearly half that of the M2 series Mac Mini. Now, the M4 Mac Mini weighs 670 grams, while the M4 Pro version weighs 730 grams.
