Apple is expected to introduce iOS 27 at the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) held from 8 to 12 June 2026 in California, US. Although not yet officially announced, numerous reports and leaks suggest several features that may be included in iOS 27.

As per Apple’s tradition, iOS 27 is anticipated to be widely released alongside the iPhone 18 in September 2026. The update is said to bring significant improvements.

According to Mashable, Sunday, 31 May 2026, here’s what you need to know about iOS 27.

  1. iPhone models not supported by iOS 27

Recent leaks indicate Apple may discontinue iOS support for older iPhone models such as the iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro, iPhone 11 Pro Max, and second-generation iPhone SE. This means any device older than the iPhone 12 may not be able to run iOS 27.

Additionally, not all devices compatible with iOS 27 will receive all Apple Intelligence features. Currently, Apple Intelligence is only compatible with the iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, iPhone 16, and newer models.

  1. Siri to become AI chatbot

The most highlighted feature in various reports is a major overhaul of Siri. The Apple virtual assistant is reportedly set to transform into an AI chatbot with its own app, capable of understanding user context and real-time screen content.

The new Siri is said to be able to perform actions across and within apps. The technology is reportedly supported primarily by Google’s Gemini model, although users may be able to choose third-party AI models to use with Siri and Apple Intelligence.

Despite having a dedicated app, the method to activate Siri will not change drastically. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, users can still use voice commands or press the power button. However, Apple is reportedly preparing a new interface integrated with Dynamic Island.

Users can access Siri via a swipe gesture from the top of the screen, with an additional swipe opening the full chatbot view.
