The iPhone Duo features a nano-textured protective layer on the inner screen that can be removed and replaced if it becomes worn.

According to a report from Macrumors on Thursday (1/10) local time, Apple’s Vice President of Hardware Engineering, Kate Bergeron, explained that the layer is specifically designed to be replaceable so that users do not have to replace the entire device when the internal screen protector begins to show signs of wear.

The protective layer functions to help disguise the crease located in the centre of the iPhone Duo’s inner screen.

Apple stated that they have designed the iPhone Duo’s foldable screen layer to remain in good condition for as long as possible. However, with regular use, the layer may degrade or cause the crease on the screen to become more prominent. In such instances, users can replace the protective layer with a new one.

In the United States, iPhone Duo users with AppleCare+ coverage can replace the screen protector for a fee of 19 US dollars, or approximately Rp339,000. Apple has not yet disclosed the replacement cost for users without AppleCare+ protection.

The replacement of the iPhone Duo’s screen protector can be performed at Apple Stores or through official Apple service providers.

The iPhone Duo itself can be ordered via pre-order starting 16 October 2026. The foldable handset will then become available in official Apple stores on 23 October 2026.
