Apple representatives, including Mike Orgill, Managing Director of Apple Asia Pacific, met with the Minister of Digital Affairs, Meutya Hafid, and her team. A primary topic of discussion was the implementation of Government Regulation (PP) Tunas, or Government Regulation Number 14 of 2025, concerning the Governance of Electronic System Provision in Child Protection.

During the meeting, 14 of Apple’s services and product features began the verification process by the Ministry of Digital Affairs to ensure compliance with PP Tunas standards. These platforms include iMessage, Safari, Siri, Apple Music, and Apple TV.

“Fourteen Apple services and features have been submitted to us,” stated Meutya in an official statement released on Thursday.

Each digital service will be evaluated separately, taking into account its specific characteristics, features, and potential risks to children. The Ministry of Digital Affairs aims to complete the verification process for the submitted documents within one month. The evaluation results will serve as the basis for determining the risk level of each service and ensuring the principles of child protection in the digital space are upheld.

Mike Orgill stated that child protection is one of the company’s top priorities. This includes the development of enhanced digital security features, which will be strengthened through operating system updates at the end of this year.

Key developments include enhanced parental control features, as well as improved capabilities for detecting harmful content such as nudity, violence, and gore. Additionally, the company is strengthening the Child Account system to allow parents to monitor their children’s digital activities via their devices.

“We believe that child protection is a top priority. We greatly appreciate the steps taken by the Indonesian Government under Minister Meutya’s leadership to strengthen child protection in the digital space. We are also ready to engage in further discussions should any questions arise during the evaluation process,” said Mike Orgill.

In addition to PP Tunas, the meeting also addressed the development of Indonesian digital talent through the Apple Developer Academy and the Apple Developer Institute.
