Apple releases iOS 27 update, including support for iPhone 11

Apple has confirmed that its latest operating system, iOS 27, remains compatible with all iPhone models that previously supported iOS 26, including the iPhone 11, which is approximately seven years old. Consequently, users ranging from iPhone 11 owners to those with the latest models can update their devices to iOS 27.

According to reports from Engadget on Monday (8/6) local time, Apple claims that applications on iOS 27 can open up to 30 per cent faster than the previous version. Additionally, Apple stated that it has optimised the CPU scheduler within the operating system to enhance device efficiency and performance.

However, support for iOS 27 does not automatically mean that all artificial intelligence features, such as Apple Intelligence and Siri AI, will be available on all compatible devices. Apple emphasised that these latest AI features are only available on specific models, with the oldest supported devices being the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max.

On the other hand, operating system updates for older models do not apply to the entire Apple device lineup. For instance, the watchOS 27 operating system only supports the Apple Watch Series 10 or newer, the Apple Watch Ultra 2 or later, and the Apple Watch SE 3. As a result, several Apple Watch models that are still capable of running watchOS 26 will no longer receive support for the watchOS 27 update.
