Apple prepares OS update for next week to resolve iPhone 18 Pro issues
Apple is reportedly preparing an update containing bug fixes for the operating system used in the iPhone 18 Pro, which is expected to be released next week.
The bug in question relates to FaceID; instead of unlocking applications as intended, the feature causes the device to freeze and subsequently undergo an automatic reboot.
According to Phonearena on Thursday (24/9) local time, FaceID for app protection was introduced via iOS 18, released in 2024. This feature allows iPhone users to add extra protection to specific applications by requiring facial recognition to authenticate the identity of the person opening the app.
Configuring FaceID provides an extra layer of security to prevent unauthorised individuals from accessing certain applications on a user’s iPhone. Unfortunately, this feature is experiencing issues when implemented on the iPhone 18 Pro, Apple’s latest smartphone model.
When FaceID is accessed to open an application on the iPhone 18 Pro, it fails to recognise the owner and prompts the user to try again. After the user attempts the process again, the iPhone 18 Pro enters a continuous reboot cycle.
Apple has reportedly acknowledged these issues and is set to fix the bug. The company appears to be preparing to release the bug fix next week.
