Apple is expanding its investment in Indonesia by introducing five Apple Developer Institutes in several cities. This step continues the company’s efforts to strengthen the developer ecosystem and the iOS app economy in the country. Unlike the Apple Developer Academy, which is designed as an initial stage to build foundations, the Apple Developer Institute is an advanced stage aimed at participants with more experience, focusing on specialisations such as AI, DevOps, gaming, and entrepreneurship. The five institutes are located in Surabaya, Tangerang, Batam, and Jakarta, with learning programmes targeting students, aspiring developers, and professionals. The opening of the Apple Developer Institute in Jakarta was officiated by the Minister of Industry, Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita, at Autograph Tower on Tuesday (21/4/2026). “This is part of the commitment agreed upon between the government and Apple,” said Agus. “Therefore, the government appreciates Apple for continuously opening opportunities and showing trust in Indonesia,” he added. “This is a positive signal that Apple is truly committed to the Indonesian market,” Agus concluded. Technically, each institute offers programmes with varying durations, from eight months to two years. The materials cover AI and machine learning development, cloud system and large-scale application management, to game creation and launching. Gordon Shukwit, Senior Director of Apple Developer Academy, added that the selection of programme focuses such as AI and developer operations is not unrelated to current industry needs. “We see those trends developing, and industry partners need certain skills, especially in DevOps and AI,” explained Shukwit. Overall, the programme is attended by nearly 200 participants focusing on artificial intelligence (AI), developer operations, game development, and entrepreneurship.
