Jakarta (ANTARA) - Apple is reportedly set to change how record labels and music distributors indicate and provide transparency to listeners in distinguishing content produced or assisted by artificial intelligence (AI) when uploaded to its music platform.

TechCrunch on Wednesday (4/3) reported that this information was first disclosed by Music Business Worldwide, which stated that the stipulation was communicated by Apple via a newsletter sent to industry partners.

The bulletin contains information on how Apple will roll out a series of new metadata to enhance transparency about how and when AI is used in music.

Now Apple Music will add an option to include metadata tags that distributors can use to mark when AI-generated content is involved in certain aspects of a song.

The markers allow distributors to differentiate between the song cover, track (music), composition (lyrics), or music video.

However, manual tagging to distinguish AI content from non-AI content remains challenging as it relies on the voluntary cooperation of music labels and distributors.

Not only Apple Music; similar steps have already been taken by comparable platforms, namely Spotify.

But there are other platforms like Deezer that are trying to tag AI-generated content with their internal detection tools, yet the system is still considered difficult to produce accurate results.
