Apple Launches New 14-Inch MacBook Pro with M6 Chip: Specifications
Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Apple has officially launched its latest laptop, the 14-inch MacBook Pro, powered by the M6 chip. The Cupertino-based technology giant has added improvements in graphics performance and power efficiency, as well as more capable on-device artificial intelligence (AI).
Apple Vice President of Hardware Engineering Shelly Goldberg said the update was designed to meet the needs of professionals, creators and students who require high-performance devices.
“With the powerful M6 chip, we are taking MacBook Pro performance to the next level with faster CPU and graphics speeds, as well as improved on-device AI capabilities,” Goldberg said in an official statement, quoted on Wednesday (28 October 2026).
M6 chip delivers a performance leap and AI processing power
The M6 chip is equipped with a 12-core CPU and a 12-core GPU, with a Neural Accelerator on every core. Apple claims the M6 GPU delivers graphics performance up to 30% faster than the previous-generation M5, and includes a third-generation ray-tracing engine and Dynamic Caching.
AI is a major focus, with the inclusion of a 16-core Dual Neural Engine. Apple claims it is 1.9 times faster than the M5 when handling local AI workloads – such as large language model (LLM) processing, Super Resolution and image generation – without compromising users’ data privacy.
For users upgrading from an early generation of Apple Silicon, such as the M1, the performance gains are even more significant:
LLM prompt processing is up to 13 times faster.
Rendering in Blender is up to 11.7 times faster.
Image processing in Affinity is up to 3.3 times faster.
24-hour battery life and fast connectivity
The M6’s power efficiency is not just about performance: the 14-inch MacBook Pro offers battery life of up to 24 hours. The device also supports fast charging with a 96W USB-C power adapter, which can charge the battery to 50% in 30 minutes.
For connectivity, the laptop comes with Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6. Its visuals are supported by a Liquid Retina XDR display with peak HDR brightness of up to 1,600 nits, now available with an optional nano-texture coating to minimise reflections.
