Apple Investigates Data Leak Revealing iPhone 18 Pro Information
Apple is reportedly investigating a data leak incident affecting Tata Electronics, one of its manufacturing partners in India, after several confidential documents related to the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max circulated online. According to Macrumors on Monday local time, Apple is concerned about the impact of the cyberattack targeting Tata Electronics. In the incident, hackers managed to steal internal Apple documents which were then shared via the dark web. The leaked documents include information on supplier lists, components, and images of the unreleased iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max devices. The files also contain component designs and technical specifications for the phones. At least six documents are reported to reveal hundreds of iPhone 18 Pro components, including details of chips on the main circuit board, battery components, and camera modules. The photos show a phone in a grey finish with a bar-shaped design, three rear cameras, and the Apple logo on the back. Beyond the phone information, the data leak also revealed the links between various suppliers and iPhone components, information that Apple has not previously published. Tata Electronics is both an iPhone component supplier and an assembler of Apple devices in India. The company plays a crucial role in Apple’s efforts to diversify its supply chain and reduce production dependence on China. Tata Electronics confirmed last week that it had been the victim of a cybersecurity incident after a hacker group called World Leaks shared more than 200,000 files containing information related to Apple and Tesla. Based on the report, the stolen files have been circulating on the dark web since at least 10 June 2026. In response, Tata Electronics restricted internal access to several sensitive systems and appointed a cyber consultant to conduct a forensic audit to investigate the incident. The data leak is said to have the potential to affect the business relationship between Apple and Tata Electronics. Apple is reportedly still conducting an investigation and working with Tata Electronics to strengthen long-term cybersecurity.
