Apple Industry Boosts Residents' Income in Weining, China

Early-ripening apple varieties in the Yi-Hui-Miao Ethnic Autonomous County of Weining are gradually entering the harvest season. The region has 150,000 mu (approximately 10,000 hectares) of fruit-bearing apple trees, with more than 10 apple varieties. The apple industry in the area has recorded a total output value of 1.2 billion yuan (1 yuan = Rp2,631), or around 178.81 million US dollars (1 US dollar = Rp17,689), thereby boosting the incomes of nearly 100,000 rural households.
