Apple believed to raise iPhone 18 series prices due to memory crisis

Apple is believed to be raising prices for its iPhone 18 series smartphones as a result of a memory crisis that has caused component prices to surge.

This new report reinforces earlier speculation that the iPhone 18 series could be marketed at US$100 (around Rp1.7 million) higher than the previous generation at launch.

Citing a GSM Arena report on Monday (24/8), confirmation of the price increase for the iPhone 18 series came from an unnamed internal source.

It turns out the company can no longer maintain thin profit margins, making a US$100 price increase across all iPhone 18 models unavoidable.

By raising prices, the company can share costs with its consumers while maintaining market balance and keeping prices competitive with rivals such as Samsung.

As a result, the iPhone 18 Pro set to be released next month could potentially be sold starting from US$1,199 (around Rp21 million), keeping it within the price range of its competitors.

Raising the price of new iPhones still seems reasonable without Apple having to fear losing customers, as the company actually has a loyal user base.

The remaining models, the iPhone 18 and iPhone 18e, will be released early next year around the first quarter of 2027.
