Appearance of Two JPOs on Rasuna Said: Close but Not Connected

A pedestrian bridge (JPO) near the Rasuna Said Transjakarta stop has gone viral because there are two bridges located close together but not connected. Based on observations at the location on Tuesday (4/8/2026), the JPO is positioned next to the bridge that connects to the Transjakarta stop and LRT station. However, right in the middle of the bridge, a fence has been installed to block access to the Transjakarta stop. At this closed-off section, it is also visible that the JPO Rasuna Said has a height difference with the LRT Rasuna Said JPO. There is also a gap between this bridge and the LRT Rasuna Said bridge. This JPO was built earlier. Besides serving as a crossing, it also provided access for Transjakarta passengers to the Rasuna Said stop. However, since the existence of the Rasuna Said LRT Station, access from this JPO to the Transjakarta stop has been closed and diverted to use the LRT station’s JPO. The distance from this JPO to the LRT JPO is very close. The JPO still functions for people who simply want to cross from the Ministry of Immigration and Corrections (Kemenimipas) building to Plaza Festival or vice versa. To avoid confusion, the JPO is equipped with an information board hanging at the top of the stair access. Head of the Data and Information Centre of the DKI Jakarta Highways Department, Siti Dinarwenny, explained that the old JPO is a crossing facility owned by the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government. Meanwhile, the JPO right next to it is an integration bridge built by LRT Jabodebek as part of the facilities for passengers moving between the LRT Jabodebek Station and the TransJakarta stop. ‘Before the TransJakarta stop was relocated under the LRT Jabodebek Integrated Station, the existing JPO also provided direct access to the stop. However, after the stop was moved, access to the stop is now via the integration bridge built by LRT Jabodebek,’ Wenny said. Wenny stated that the JPO integrated with the LRT station can also be used by the general public to cross the road. According to her, the integration JPO has an unpaid area, so residents who do not use LRT or TransJakarta services can still utilise the facility. ‘The integration JPO has an unpaid area so it can be used by the general public for crossing. This facility is equipped with a lift to facilitate access for the community, especially persons with disabilities, the elderly, pregnant women, and other users who need easy access,’ she said. She also responded to the suggestion that the two JPOs be connected. According to Dinar, such a plan requires a technical study from LRT Jabodebek as the owner and manager of the integration JPO. In addition, she said, there is a floor height difference of about 75 cm between the two JPOs. Meanwhile, the distance between the two JPOs is only about 60 cm. ‘This condition makes it impossible to build stairs or ramps that meet safety, security, comfort, and accessibility standards for users,’ she explained. ‘We urge the public to use the available crossing facilities and always prioritise safety when travelling,’ she added.
