Appearance of the Perpetrators in the Acid Attack on KontraS Activist Captured on CCTV

Jakarta Metropolitan Police have displayed photos of the executor perpetrators in the acid splashing incident against KontraS activist Andrie Yunus. The photos are the result of images captured from CCTV. “This is the result of images captured from CCTV that we have obtained. We emphasise to all colleagues that this has not been altered or processed in any way, so we can be accountable that this is not the result of artificial intelligence,” said the Director of Criminal Investigation of Jakarta Metropolitan Police, Kombes Iman Imannudin, quoted from detikNews, Wednesday (18/3/2026). In the displayed photos, the four executors are seen using motorbikes, wearing batik-patterned clothing and blue-coloured attire. They were recorded by CCTV along the route they took before and after the incident. “This is purely taken from CCTV captured by surveillance cameras along the route traversed by the perpetrators, so it is not the result of artificial intelligence,” he stated. Based on the displayed photos, the front passenger is a man driving the motorbike. Meanwhile, the one sitting at the back is the executor who splashed the acid on Andrie Yunus. “This is the rear part, at the scene it is seen splashing liquid on the victim,” he added. For information, the four suspects in the acid splashing incident have been detained by TNI’s Central Inspectorate. All four are TNI soldiers, and examinations of the perpetrators are currently underway. “Conducting activities to file a police report, possibly later from the victim witness. Then carrying out temporary detention of the four suspects mentioned,” said the Deputy Chief of TNI’s Central Inspectorate, Mayjen TNI Yusri Nuryanto, quoted from detikNews, Wednesday (18/3).
