The Directorate of Special Criminal Investigation (Ditreskrimsus) of Metro Jaya Police has revealed a case involving the circulation of counterfeit money exceeding half a billion rupiah in a hotel in the Kemang area, Bogor Regency. Police also seized several other pieces of evidence in the case. A series of evidential items were displayed during a press conference at Metro Jaya Police Headquarters on Wednesday (1/4/2026). A silver-coloured crate containing fake money was visible. Other seized items included printing machines, paper cutters, and ink. One suspect with initials MP was secured in the case. MP was arrested in a hotel room in the Kemang area, Bogor Regency, on Monday (30/3). During the search, police seized bundles of fake Rp 100,000 notes stored in a box resembling a crate and a cardboard box. “Indeed, we have secured fake Rp 100,000 notes worth approximately Rp 620 million in a hotel room in the Kemang area, Bogor Regency. So far, one suspect with initials MP has been secured,” stated AKBP Robby Syahfery, Head of Sub-Directorate II Ekbank of Ditreskrimsus Metro Jaya Police, in his statement on Tuesday (31/3). In addition to securing the suspected perpetrator, police confiscated several pieces of equipment allegedly used to produce fake money. The evidential items included a printer, ink, a paper cutting tool, A4 paper, and other equipment related to the fake money production process. AKBP Robby emphasised that the revelation is still being developed to trace possible involvement of other parties. Police are now focusing on delving into the suspect’s role and the distribution channels of the fake money. “At the moment, we are still conducting an in-depth investigation into the fake money syndicate regarding the planners and their distribution networks,” he said. Metro Jaya Police also advised the public to be more vigilant when receiving cash, especially large denominations. Residents are urged to be more thorough and immediately report to the nearest police station or through the Polri call centre at 110 if they find suspected fake money.
