Appeal to voters and elected leaders
Appeal to voters and elected leaders
From Republika
The entire nation, particularly Indonesian-Muslims, should
help make the presidential election, scheduled for July 5, a
success. Muslims should exercise their voting right for the
benefit of the Islamic community.
They should vote for the candidate who best embraces Islam.
Supporters of smaller Islamic parties should unite to direct
their votes to the candidate named by the Islamic party that
garnered the most votes in the April 5 election.
Meanwhile, the newly elected president and vice president must
be accountable, not only to the People's Consultative Assembly,
but to almighty God.
The new leaders, who must also be devout, should appoint pious
figures as ministers. Thus, it is hoped that the citizens of our
country will become pious people and earn divine blessings.
