App Simplifies Trademark Checks for Entrepreneurs via Mobile
Directorate General of Intellectual Property (DGIP) records 120,000 to 140,000 trademark applications annually, with Indonesia among ASEAN nations with the highest growth in trademark filings. Over 66 million micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) form the backbone of the national economy but face significant risks in trademark protection, as 75% of applications are rejected due to similarities with existing registered marks. This underscores that brand creation alone is insufficient, requiring proper protection for business continuity.
Launched on its third anniversary, Mebiso App serves as a ‘Trademark Guard’, enabling entrepreneurs to check, monitor, and protect trademarks entirely via mobile. The application features real-time monitoring, automated alerts for potential trademark similarities, and encrypted data security to safeguard user information.
‘Entrepreneurs build businesses and brands through lengthy processes requiring time, effort, and struggle. It is regrettable if established brands risk being copied or fail registration due to similarities with others,’ said Mebiso CEO Hesti Rosa.
