App Commission Set at 8 Percent, Driver Earnings Remain Stable

The reduction in app commission from 20 percent to 8 percent has become a topic of discussion among online transport drivers. However, accounts from Grab partners indicate that the experience varies by region and demand conditions. On the ground, drivers are responding to the change by managing their time, moving to busy locations, and activating available services within the app. Mei Akbar Maniflor, a Grab partner from Jakarta, distinguished the impact of the commission scheme from the drop in demand during school holidays. He explained that his experience since the new scheme was implemented is still influenced by how he manages his activities in the field. “For me it’s stable, because there are several factors. Currently, school children are on holiday, so some friends’ income has also dropped,” he said in a press release in Jakarta on Friday (17/6/2026).
