Apology on Eid al-Fitr from KDM: Civil Servants Need Not Visit Me, Better to Engage in Family Silaturahim
REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BANDUNG — West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi conveyed an apology to the people of West Java on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah. He also invited the public to focus more on celebrating the holiday with their families.
The governor, affectionately known as KDM, extended Eid greetings to Muhammadiyah congregations who had celebrated earlier on Friday (20/3/2026). KDM performed Eid prayers in the courtyard of Gedung Sate, Bandung City, on Saturday (21/3/2026). He was joined by the deputy governor of West Java, the chairman of the Provincial DPRD, the deputy chairman, and one member of the West Java DPRD.
“We apologise to all West Java residents; our governance has not yet satisfied everyone,” said KDM, during a break in the Eid prayer proceedings in the courtyard of Gedung Sate.
After Eid prayers, KDM was scheduled to be at Gedung Pakuan, Bandung City, from 08.00 to 10.00 WIB. He also invited residents who wished to engage in silaturahim to join him for a meal together.
However, to civil servants (ASN) in the West Java Provincial Government, KDM advised them not to come to Gedung Pakuan for the open house event. He believed that the Eid moment was better used to gather with family.
“No need to come to me. It’s better to meet family, visit relatives, or pay respects at the graves of parents,” he said.
According to KDM, there is no obligation for formal visits during Eid. He emphasised that togetherness with the community in a simple atmosphere is already a joy for him.
KDM also expressed thanks to the personnel who continued working during Eid, such as police, TNI, transportation officers, and health workers.
“They cannot perform takbiran and Eid prayers with their families because they must be on duty. Thank you for your dedication,” stated KDM.
Additionally, KDM apologised to mudik travellers passing through West Java if the services during the mudik flow were not yet satisfactory. He promised to continue making improvements.
“We will keep fixing the shortcomings so that next year it will be better,” he said.
KDM invited residents to enjoy Eid peacefully and happily with their families. “Enjoy Eid well with your family. Greetings to everyone,” concluded KDM.
