APJI Holds National Working Meeting, Consolidating Role as Key Strategic Partner for Catering Industry
The Indonesian Catering Entrepreneurs Association (APJI) has emphasised that the catering industry plays a strategic role in supporting the national economy. Alongside the food and beverage industry, this sector is estimated to contribute nearly 10 per cent to Indonesia’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP), equivalent to approximately Rp 2,300 trillion.
APJI General Chair Tashya Megananda Yukki stated that the catering industry does not only contribute to economic growth but also supports food security, the improvement of public nutritional quality, the development of MSMEs, and job creation. “The APJI National Working Meeting (Rakernas) is a momentum to strengthen organisational consolidation while formulating strategic steps to enhance the professionalism, competence, and competitiveness of our members. We want to ensure that APJI remains a relevant, adaptive organisation capable of providing a real contribution to the progress of the Indonesian catering industry,” said Tashya during the 202<0xC2>6 APJI National Working Meeting at the Grand Hotel De Djokja, Yogyakarta, on Wednesday (3/6/2026).
The 2026 APJI National Working Meeting was attended by over 500 participants, comprising APJI executives and members from 29 Regional Executive Boards (DPD) across Indonesia. The event also involved APJI’s international networks in Australia, the Netherlands, and the United Kingdom.
Carrying the theme “National Consolidation and Organisational Strengthening Towards APJI as the Main Strategic Partner for Catering,” the meeting served as a moment to reinforce the organisation and reaffirm APJI’s position as a strategic partner to the government in developing the national catering industry.
According to Tashya, the number of food and beverage supply businesses in Indonesia has currently reached approximately 4.85 million units, with an estimated turnover of Rp 998 trillion. The sector is also expected to employ around 11.7 million workers.
To strengthen industry capacity and standards, Tashya emphasised APJI’s commitment to supporting various government programmes through the enhancement of human resource capacity and the improvement of catering industry standards. This commitment is realised through various education, training, and certification programmes in catering management, food safety, and food processing hygiene.
“Through these various activities, APJI encourages the creation of safe, healthy, high-quality, and sustainable food supply governance, thereby supporting the success of various government programmes,” said Tashya.
During the National Working Meeting, APJI also inaugurated the Central Papua DPD. According to Tashya, this step is part of the organisation’s efforts to expand the equitable development of the catering industry to eastern Indonesia, a region with great potential for continued growth.
