MINISTERIAL DINNER: Coordinating Minister of Trade and Industry
Hartarto holds a dinner for the APEC ministers who are in Jakarta
for their annual meeting which opens today. Hartarto, flanked by
Minister of Foreign Affairs Ali Alatas (right) and Wisber Loeis,
the chairman of the APEC senior officials meeting, played host to
U.S. Secretary of State Warren Christopher (foreground) and other
guests at the Jakarta Convention Center last night.

MALAYSIAN VIEW: Malaysian Minister for International Trade and
Industry Rafidah Aziz gives her government's views on various
APEC issues to the press. Rafidah is one of the few ministers who
made themselves available to the press when they arrived at the
Soekarno-Hatta Airport for today's APEC ministerial meeting.
