Apartment Fire in Tanah Abang, 14 Residents Evacuated

A fire occurred at an apartment complex in the Tanah Abang area, Central Jakarta. Firefighters struggled to extinguish the flames and evacuate the apartment residents.

“The process of sweeping and evacuating victims trapped inside is underway,” said an officer from the Command Centre of the Jakarta Disaster Management and Fire Rescue Service (Gulkarmat) on Friday (4/9/2026).

Regarding the firefighting process, the fire brigade is currently in the phase of controlling the ignition to prevent the fire from spreading to wider areas or other objects. A total of 23 pump engines and 115 firefighters were deployed to the location.

The fire originated on the 5th floor of the apartment located on Jalan KH Mas Mansyur, Karet Tengsin, Tanah Abang. Dozens of apartment residents have been evacuated.

“So far, 14 people have been successfully evacuated,” the officer stated.

The fire was reported to the fire brigade by residents at 11:23 WIB. The firefighting process commenced at 11:30 WIB.
