AP II: Garuda Indonesia Flights to Bengkulu Cease Operations
Bengkulu (ANTARA) - The PT Angkasa Pura (AP) II Branch Office at Fatmawati Soekarno Airport in Bengkulu has stated that Garuda Indonesia flight operations at the airport have ceased. Until now, the airline had been operating flights from Jakarta to Bengkulu and vice versa. “It is true that Garuda Indonesia flights have stopped operating, and yesterday, 28 March 2026, was its ‘last flight’,” said General Manager of Angkasa Pura at Fatmawati Soekarno Airport in Bengkulu, Muhammad Haekal, in Bengkulu on Sunday. Regarding the official reason for the cessation of the airline’s flights at Fatmawati Soekarno Airport in Bengkulu, he did not know. “For the official details, please ask the airline directly,” he said. Previously, Bengkulu Governor Helmi Hasan visited the Garuda Indonesia Head Office at Garuda Sentra Operasi (GSO) in Tangerang, Banten, to discuss the continuity of the national airline’s flight services in Bengkulu Province. Garuda Indonesia’s Technical Director, Mukhtaris, explained that the operational challenges for flights in Bengkulu were purely due to business factors, particularly the failure to meet passenger targets. “One of the reasons is the low passenger load factor on the Bengkulu route, which has the potential to cause ongoing losses for the company,” he stated. Garuda Indonesia’s management also expressed appreciation for the attention and support from the Bengkulu Provincial Government. The airline side emphasised that it remains open to synergies with the local government to maintain the continuity of optimal flight services.
