Anyar market lost in fire

BOGOR: An uncontrolled fire gutted at least 1,040 kiosks in
Blocks A and E of Anyar market in the small hours of Monday.

No fatalities were reported.

The police suspected an electrical short circuit as the cause
of the fire.

The fire started at about 2:30 a.m. At least 50 fire trucks
from the administration and nearby cement producer PT Indocement
worked for about five hours to put out the fire.

This was the fifth fire to raze the three-story building since
1961. The most recent was on March 28, 1996, and caused damage
estimated at Rp 50 billion. -- JP
