Anwar's wife set for poll

KUALA LUMPUR (AFP): The wife of jailed former Malaysian deputy
premier Anwar Ibrahim on Saturday unveiled a manifesto by her new
political party for forthcoming general elections.

Titled the "Agenda for Change," it spells out the struggle,
guiding principles and reform programs of the National Justice
Movement (Keadilan), Wan Azizah Wan Ismail told a news
conference.

"The party makes it explicit in the Agenda for Change that it
aims to create a just Malaysian society founded upon religious
and humanitarian values," she said.

Azizah said the agenda would be distributed to the Malaysian
public, who can then send their feedback to the party before
August 10.

"A revised Agenda for Change incorporating ideas from the
people which are in line with Keadilan's philosophy will be
presented to the nation as the party's manifesto just before the
coming general election," she said.

Party vice-president Chandra Muzaffar said the agenda would be
part of a separate manifesto by Keadilan and three other
opposition parties in a coalition pact for the election.
