Anwar Usman Retires, Replacement Constitutional Court Judge to be Sworn In This Week

State Secretary Minister Prasetyo Hadi stated that the prospective Constitutional Court (MK) judge to replace Anwar Usman, who has retired, will be sworn in this week. He mentioned that the government has also received a letter from the Supreme Court (MA) regarding the name of the prospective MK judge. “It is planned as soon as possible this week,” Pras said at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Wednesday (8/4). However, Pras was still reluctant to reveal who the figure is that will replace Anwar. In addition to the MK judge, Pras conveyed that Prabowo will also swear in Ombudsman commissioners. He mentioned that the event might be held together this week. Anwar Usman entered retirement as a Constitutional Judge on 6 April 2026. He retired as an MK judge after serving for 15 years since 2011. The selection committee has also announced three high court judges who passed the selection results as replacements for Anwar. The selection panel, chaired by the Deputy Chief Justice of the MA for Judicial Affairs, Suharto, has produced three names of high court judges as prospective replacements for Anwar Usman. The announcement was signed on 9 March 2026 by Suharto with Number: 46 WKMA.Y/KP1.1/III/2026 regarding the Results of the Open Selection for Prospective Constitutional Judges from the Supreme Court of the Republic of Indonesia for the 2026 Fiscal Year. The three prospective replacements for Anwar are Fahmiron, who is a Judge at the Denpasar High Court, Liliek Prisbawono Adi as a Judge at the Medan High Court, and Marsudin Nainggolan as the Chief Judge of the North Kalimantan High Court.
