Anwar Usman Retires from the Constitutional Court; Profiles of Three Candidate Replacement Justices
JAKARTA - Anwar Usman has officially retired as a justice of the Constitutional Court (MK) on 6 April 2026. On Monday (6 April 2026), Anwar Usman completed 15 years of service at the institution known as the “guardian of the constitution.” Three justices from the Supreme Court (MA) environment have been declared to have passed the selection as candidate Constitutional Court justices to replace Anwar Usman, who reached retirement age on Monday (6 April 2026). “Based on the final assessment results, the selection committee has determined the three best participants, arranged in alphabetical order as follows: Fahmirion, Liliek Prisbawono Adi, Marsudin Nainggolan,” as quoted from the official MA website on Tuesday (7 April 2026). Based on the alphabet, the candidate replacement justice for Anwar Usman proposed by the MA is Fahmirion. Previously, he served as Chief Justice of the Denpasar High Court. According to the official Denpasar High Court website, Fahmirion has been Chief Justice of the Denpasar High Court since 26 May 2025. Before becoming Chief Justice of the Denpasar High Court, Fahmirion served as Chair of the Tangerang District Court. According to the Medan High Court website, Liliek Prisbawono Adi was born in Bojonegoro on 27 October 1966. Before becoming Chief Justice of the Medan High Court on 19 April 2024, Liliek Prisbawono Adi was Chair of the Central Jakarta District Court. The last name among the candidate replacement justices for Anwar Usman is Marsudin Nainggolan, who previously served as Chair of the North Kalimantan High Court. After that, Marsudin Nainggolan pursued an S2 in Law at the Bandung Institute of Law and Economics (STIH IBLAM) and graduated in 2001. He then pursued an S3 in Law at Jayabaya University and graduated in 2007. Marsudin Nainggolan has previously served as Chief Justice of the Jakarta High Court (2022), Deputy Chair of the Ambon High Court (2022), Deputy Chair of the Palangkaraya High Court (2023), and Deputy Chair of the Surabaya High Court (2025).
