Anwar Sanjaya Questioned by Polda Metro Jaya Investigators Regarding Hanania Group Umrah Case
Television presenter and comedian Anwar Sanjaya attended Polda Metro Jaya on Wednesday (10/6) to comply with an investigator’s summons relating to an alleged umrah travel fraud case. The case involves PT Khazanah Tamma International, also known as Hanania Group, which was reported to have failed to send hundreds of its pilgrims to the Holy Land.
Anwar’s presence at the police headquarters reflected his cooperative stance as a citizen. He affirmed his commitment to assisting the police in resolving this matter for the sake of justice for the aggrieved pilgrims.
“Alhamdulillah, my team, management and I came today to comply with the summons from the Indonesian Police. I am consciously and cooperatively helping the police to restore justice for the pilgrims who failed to depart,” Anwar said when met in Jakarta.
During the questioning process, Anwar admitted to being asked a number of questions by the investigating team. One of the main points clarified was the issue of his financial involvement with the management of Hanania Group. Anwar firmly denied reports claiming he had received a large flow of funds from the agency.
He explained that his working relationship with Hanania Group was purely promotional using a barter system, not a cash-value contract. “I want to straighten out the issues circulating out there, that I, Anwar, did not receive a single cent of funds from Hanania travel. The form of cooperation was barter. So, I departed without receiving money, only receiving pocket money during the trip there,” he explained.
As a form of empathy and moral responsibility, Anwar revealed that he had handed over all the pocket money he had ever received from Hanania to the police investigators. However, he declined to detail the amount returned and left the specifics to the authorities.
“As for the pocket money, it is not within my capacity to mention the nominal amount, but I have handed all of it over to the police. So, later my friends in the media can ask the investigators directly,” he added.
Concluding his statement, Anwar expressed deep concern for the pilgrims who had saved money for years but failed to depart. He hopes the legal process can provide a breakthrough and a solution for all victims of PT Khazanah Tamma International.
