Anwar: Meeting with Prabowo opens constructive space to address conflict
The meaningful meeting with President Prabowo today opens constructive space in seeking common ground to address the West Asia conflict that is currently pressuring energy security and global economic stability,” said Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim in a statement quoted in Kuala Lumpur on Friday night. He noted that amid increasingly acute global uncertainties, Malaysia and Indonesia affirm the importance of strengthening principled regional solidarity to maintain peace, ensure stability, and enhance economic resilience for the people’s welfare. Anwar and Prabowo agreed to intensify diplomatic efforts to ease the conflict, protect civilian lives, and open avenues for negotiations towards a peaceful and sustainable resolution. “At the same time, the continuity of global supply chains and strategic trade routes, including the Strait of Hormuz, must be ensured not to be disrupted,” said Anwar. Anwar also conveyed his recent telephone dialogues with international leaders as efforts to demonstrate solidarity, align views, and assess global impacts, particularly in terms of energy and regional security. “Malaysia remains firm in its stance, rejecting violence, upholding international law, and urging all parties to return to the path of peace,” Anwar stated.
