Anwar Ibrahim Reveals Details of Meeting with Prabowo at the Palace
Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has revealed the details of his meeting with President Prabowo Subianto at Merdeka Palace on Friday (27/3/2026). The meeting discussed the impacts of the conflict occurring in the Middle East.
“A meaningful meeting with President @prabowo today opens constructive space in seeking common ground to address the Western Asia conflict that is now pressuring energy security and global economic stability,” quoted from Anwar Ibrahim’s official Instagram @anwaribrahim_my on Friday (27/3/2026).
Anwar explained that amid rising global uncertainties, Malaysia and Indonesia need to strengthen unity, as well as maintain security and economic stability for the welfare of the people.
In addition, they also aim to strengthen diplomacy and open negotiations to ease the conflict between the two countries.
“We agreed to intensify diplomatic efforts to de-escalate the conflict, protect civilian lives, and open space for negotiations towards a safe and lasting resolution,” he said.
On that occasion, the continuity of global supply chains and trade routes in the Strait of Hormuz were also ensured. Anwar also conveyed information about interactions with international leadership partners regarding the war in the Middle East.
“I also informed about interactions with fellow international leaders as efforts to express solidarity, align views, and examine global impacts, particularly in terms of energy and regional security,” said Anwar.
“Malaysia remains firm in its stance, rejecting terrorism, upholding international law, and urging all parties to return to the path of peace,” he added.
