Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has revealed the contents of his conversation with Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto in a post on his official Instagram account @anwaribrahim_my. As is known, Prabowo previously contacted several leaders of Muslim-majority countries to convey Eid al-Fitr greetings for 1447 Hijriah, including Anwar. “We exchanged views on various current issues, including the Iran-Israel conflict,” Anwar wrote, quoted on Tuesday (24/3/2026). Not only that, the two leaders also agreed to schedule a meeting in the near future to strengthen bilateral relations between Indonesia and Malaysia. Anwar even proposed a plan to visit Jakarta as a step to bolster cooperation. In discussing regional and global issues, Anwar emphasised the importance of a sustained diplomatic approach, particularly in responding to the escalation of the Iran-Israel conflict. “In this regard, I support President Prabowo’s sincerity in directly engaging with the United States and the Islamic Republic of Iran to obtain agreement for an immediate cessation of hostilities,” he stated. Furthermore, Anwar affirmed that Malaysia will continue to support Indonesia’s diplomatic efforts to defuse the conflict. According to him, this step is crucial to reduce tensions, protect civilians, and open space for meaningful dialogue towards a safe and lasting peaceful solution. “So that tensions can be eased, the lives of ordinary people protected, and meaningful negotiation space opened towards a secure and enduring resolution,” he said.
