Anwar Ibrahim: Egypt Guarantees to Facilitate Malaysia's Aid Entry into Gaza
Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has stated that Egypt, through President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, has provided assurances to facilitate the distribution of Malaysia’s humanitarian aid to the people of Gaza.
“Alhamdulillah, President El-Sisi has given clear assurances and commitments to ensure that this access is facilitated, so that aid can be promptly delivered to more than 100,000 residents of Gaza who are in desperate need,” said Anwar Ibrahim in a statement quoted in Kuala Lumpur on Sunday (29/3).
Anwar explained that during his recent telephone interaction with President El-Sisi, he requested Egypt’s cooperation to ease the delivery of 374 tonnes of Malaysia’s humanitarian aid to the people of Gaza through the Rafah border crossing starting this April.
Malaysia, according to Anwar, will never yield to any form of obstruction, especially from the Zionist Israeli regime that continues to hinder humanitarian efforts.
He emphasised that at a time when the world is tested by indifference and hypocrisy, Malaysia will continue to stand as a principled and dignified voice, defending the rights of the oppressed.
“Please pray that all matters are facilitated and that this aid reaches our brothers and sisters in Gaza safely, insya Allah,” said Anwar.
