Anwar Ibrahim Calls Iranian President to Discuss Peace and Tehran Visit Invitation

Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim held a telephone conversation with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, conveying Eid Mubarak greetings and discussing peace initiatives, including an invitation to visit Tehran.

“I am grateful for the opportunity to speak with the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Masoud Pezeshkian, to extend Eid Mubarak greetings and fraternal salutations and prayers from the Malaysian people to the Iranian people,” Anwar stated in Kuala Lumpur.

He expressed hope for Iran’s immediate return to peace and called for resolving tensions through peaceful, wise, and responsible diplomacy. Anwar reiterated Malaysia’s condemnation of all forms of attack and aggression, including Israeli and US drone strikes and military actions, which he said would only increase civilian casualties.

He also thanked the Iranian government for its assistance in the recent release of a Malaysian vessel. Anwar stressed the need to strengthen mutual respect and friendship in international relations.

Pezeshkian appreciated Malaysia’s consistent stance on peace, justice, and humanitarian principles globally. He extended an invitation for Anwar to visit Tehran to strengthen bilateral ties and strategic cooperation.

“Insha’Allah, I will arrange a visit to Iran at an appropriate time. Iran is always close to my heart,” Anwar said, adding he has many friends in Iran who uphold knowledge, brotherhood, and universal humanitarian struggles.
