Anwar fails in latest bid
KUALA LUMPUR (AFP): Malaysia's jailed ex-deputy premier Anwar
Ibrahim has lost the latest round in his legal battle to make
Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad testify in his sex case.
Three appeal court judges decided on Monday that Anwar could
not appeal against an earlier ruling, by High Court Judge Arifin
Jaka, that there are no grounds to force Mahathir to testify in
Anwar's sodomy trial.
Anwar took the announcement calmly.
His lawyers said they would appeal to Malaysia's highest court
and seek a continuing adjournment of the sodomy hearing in the
meantime.
