Anwar and Reny Drive Rapid Progress in Central Sulawesi, Realizing Equitable Education and Guaranteed Healthcare
One year into leading Central Sulawesi, Governor Anwar Hafid and Vice Governor Reny Lamadjido have begun to drive various advancements through the BERANI program, which targets the education, health, and infrastructure sectors. Several measurable achievements have been recorded, starting from the distribution of tens of thousands of scholarships to accelerating the development of inter-regional connectivity.
In the education sector, the BERANI Cerdas program has distributed scholarships to 23,568 students at various levels. This policy is considered a strategic step in encouraging equitable access to higher education.
Insan Praditya Anugrah, an academic from the Open University’s Department of Government Science, assessed that the policy is important for equitable education. He said the step opens up wider opportunities for students from eastern Indonesia to gain access to quality education.
“This is very important for equitable education so that education which has so far been concentrated in western Indonesia can be enjoyed more by our brothers and sisters in eastern Indonesia,” said Insan in a statement, Thursday (February 26).
This program also opens up opportunities for students to pursue education at various universities in Indonesia. He assessed that this inter-regional opportunity contributes to the expansion of insights and the exchange of knowledge.
“I heard that this program allows undergraduate, master’s and doctoral students from Central Sulawesi to study at various universities throughout Indonesia and this is important as an effort to transfer knowledge and insights in order to create equity,” he said.
According to him, the follow-up impact of equitable education has the potential to strengthen the economic foundation of eastern Indonesia. The chain effect of improving the quality of human resources is considered to encourage more equitable growth.
“With this trickle-down effect, economic equity in the eastern Indonesian region will gradually improve,” he explained.
In the health sector, the BERANI Sehat program is considered to be most felt by the community because it provides easier and more inclusive access to services. Throughout 2025, this program has served 135,084 people in Central Sulawesi.
Insan said that the steps taken by the provincial government are a real implementation of pro-people policies in the field of health. He assessed that guaranteeing access to health services is an important foundation for the welfare of the community.
“What the Central Sulawesi Provincial Government is doing is a real implementation of people’s welfare policies, especially guarantees for health care facilities,” he said.
Meanwhile, through BERANI Lancar, the provincial government is accelerating the development of strategic infrastructure, including a multi-year road project worth IDR 604 billion and the reopening of the Palu IV Bridge to strengthen connectivity and economic activity. This effort is considered a concrete step in facilitating the flow of goods and services between regions.
“This is the result of important concrete steps for the smooth flow of inter-regional connectivity and also the improvement of inter-regional economies,” he added.
Overall, he assessed that the BERANI program has begun to show a real impact on the people of Central Sulawesi. The hope is that the completed infrastructure development will be able to encourage more inclusive economic growth.
“We all hope that with the completion of this infrastructure, economic growth in the province of Central Sulawesi will be even better and economic prosperity will be enjoyed by all people,” he concluded. (Cah/P-3)
