During the 21-day implementation of the Antik Mahakam 2026 Operation, the Samarinda City Police successfully uncovered 56 cases of narcotics abuse and trafficking. As part of these findings, law enforcement secured 74 individuals suspected of involvement in narcotics distribution and abuse networks.

The operation, which took place from 10–30 July 2026, was conducted simultaneously involving the Narcotics Unit, the Water and Police Unit, and all sub-district police stations within the Samarinda jurisdiction. Of the 74 suspects apprehended, 69 were male and five were female.

Samarinda Police Chief, Commissioner Hendri Umar, explained that this operation is a strategic step by the police to restrict the movement of narcotics perpetrators in the city. “The Antik Mahakam Operation was carried out over 21 days with the primary target being criminal acts of narcotics abuse and illegal trafficking,” Hendri stated during a press conference at the Samarinda Police Headquarters on Friday (31/7/2026).

During the operational period, investigators followed up on 56 police reports. Specifically, 27 cases were uncovered by the Samarinda Police Narcotics Unit, while 29 other cases were the result of enforcement actions by sub-district police units alongside the Water and Police Unit.

Based on the evaluation, the police have mapped several areas still considered high-risk for narcotics trafficking activities. Areas of particular concern include the Port area, Sungai Kunjang District, Sungai Pinang, and Samarinda Seberang.

“These areas remain our focus of surveillance because narcotics trafficking activity there is still detected to be quite high,” he emphasised.

Hendri estimated that the economic value of all seized evidence reached approximately Rp982 million. He emphasised that this success not only breaks the distribution chain but also provides a significant social impact on the community. “Based on the amount of evidence secured, this disclosure is estimated to have saved approximately 2,000 lives from the potential of narcotics abuse,” he concluded.
