Anticipating Waste Build-Up, Pasar Jaya Hands Over 5 Trucks to Kramat Jati Main Market

JAKARTA - Perumda Pasar Jaya handed over five garbage transport trucks to the Kramat Jati Main Market in East Jakarta on Friday (1/5/2026).

This was done to anticipate waste build-up and maintain cleanliness at the Kramat Jati Main Market.

“With a fleet of five units, each with a capacity of 16 cubic metres, it is hoped that the waste transportation process can run more quickly, orderly, and comprehensively,” said the Director of Perumda Pasar Jaya, Agus Himawan, at the Kramat Jati Main Market on Friday.

“Rubbish that might pile up too long in the corners of this market can now be transported on schedule, and this will certainly have a positive impact on the traders,” he explained.

He added that waste management at the Kramat Jati Main Market is a focus because it is one of the largest and busiest markets in Jakarta, with thousands of traders and buyers transacting every day.

“The volume of waste produced by the Kramat Jati Main Market every day is very significant. If this condition is not managed well, it will not only affect the cleanliness and comfort of the market, but also directly influence environmental health,” he explained.

A pile of rubbish about six metres high at the Kramat Jati Main Market at the beginning of March 2026 was caused by a shortage of transport vehicles.

“Around 6,970 tonnes, equivalent to about 410 tronton trucks. This situation was triggered by technical issues in providing transportation vehicles since 9 March 2026,” said the Public Relations Manager of Perumda Pasar Jaya, Topik Hidayatulloh.

Topik claimed that his side had coordinated with the Jakarta Environmental Agency regarding waste transportation. He promised significant progress in the next two days.

On the other hand, Perumda Pasar Jaya has prepared a plan by processing the procurement of five independent garbage trucks with a capacity of 16 cubic metres per unit.
