The Sumedang Regency Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) has increased its vigilance regarding the impacts of seasonal changes that trigger strong winds. As a structural mitigation step, the BPBD is conducting the felling and pruning of trees deemed at risk of falling at several strategic points.

These preventive efforts are focused on sections of the national road with high vehicle mobility, specifically at the Panorama Jatinangor Block (Cinanjung Village) and the Pandaysari Block (Kutamandiri Village) in the Tanjungsari District.

The Head of Sumedang BPBD, Bambang Rianto, emphasised that this step was taken to guarantee public safety for both vehicle users and pedestrians traversing the area.

β€œThe felling and pruning of trees are being carried out to anticipate the occurrence of falling trees, which are feared could endanger road users or pedestrians passing through these areas,” said Bambang Rianto on Monday (8/6).

Based on field mapping, there are two main locations targeted for the clearing of high-risk trees. Bambang added that the entire execution process in the field proceeded safely and concondently without significantly disrupting the flow of traffic.

The activity involves joint personnel from the Tanjungsari District, the Koramil and Polsek Tanjungsari, the Village Governments of Cinanjung and Kutamandiri, the BBPJN Directorate General of Bina Marga West Java, the Transport Agency (Dishub), and is supported by the Rancatan Tanjungsari Volunteers and local residents.

Members of the public are urged to remain vigilant when traversing roads with large trees, particularly during heavy rain accompanied by strong winds, to avoid the risk of accidents caused by falling trees.
