The Tangsel City Communication and Information Office (Diskominfo) has confirmed that all technology facilities and digital infrastructure are ready to support the 2026/2027 Academic Year Student Admission System (SPMB). This measure aims to prevent classic issues such as server downtime and ensure the security of students’ personal data.

In this year’s school registration process, Diskominfo acts as the technological backbone supporting the Education and Culture Office (Dindikbud) and the Civil Registration and Population Office (Disdukcapil). This synergy aims to deliver a transparent, secure, accurate, and accountable admission system.

Diskominfo Chief Asep Nurdin emphasised that the digital facilities are designed to be user-friendly for the general public.

“Technology is not the end goal, but a bridge. Through a more organised and secure SPMB system, Diskominfo ensures all digital infrastructure is ready to serve the public, ensuring every child has fair access to quality education,” Asep stated in a written release on Wednesday (20 May 2026).

Based on past evaluations, the first day of registration is typically the most challenging due to millions of simultaneous accesses. To address potential traffic spikes, Diskominfo Tangsel has significantly increased server capacity.

“We have provided and ensured server capacity operates optimally, stably, and securely against registration traffic surges,” Asep said.

A key focus for Diskominfo Tangsel in SPMB 2026 is protecting sensitive citizen data, such as National Identity Numbers (NIK) and family card documents. Asep stated that the online registration system’s governance is protected by high-level security regulations and standards.

“Strengthening information security governance for the SPMB application strictly adheres to international ISO 27001 standards, Law No. 27 of 2022 on Personal Data Protection (PDP), and the official information security policies of the National Cyber and Crypto Agency (BSSN),” Asep stressed.

As of May 2026, Diskominfo has launched multi-stage testing before the system goes live. Testing facilities include User Acceptance Testing (UAT), where features are tested with Dindikbud as the program owner to ensure registration workflows comply with guidelines. Additionally, Penetration Testing (Pentest) is conducted internally by Diskominfo’s information security team to simulate cyber-attacks and identify security vulnerabilities early.

To support fairness in the zoning (residence) and affirmative action (disadvantaged) streams, Diskominfo Tangsel has enhanced data integration interoperability. The SPMB application now directly connects with Disdukcapil’s population database.

This integration enables faster and more accurate verification of students’ residential addresses, minimising data manipulation fraud. “Furthermore, the online registration system facilitates checking social welfare decile data via the Ministry of Social Affairs (Kemensos) website to streamline affirmative action applicant screening,” Asep said.

Diskominfo recognises that technological sophistication alone won’t maximise impact without adequate human resources. Therefore, it provides technical training and on-site support for school principals and operators across Tangsel.

“We are conducting training and support for school operators to ensure on-ground service and data verification for the public run smoothly,” Asep said.

For technical emergencies during registration, Diskominfo has deployed a cyber monitoring team. “We have prepared technical services and dedicated IT teams to monitor the system and address technical issues,” he added.

Additionally, the Tangsel City Government provides free internet access at 5,000 points across community halls, public parks, mosques, and other locations for residents needing connectivity.

The Tangsel City Government confirmed that all SPMB 2026 registration and selection processes are 100% free of charge. Parents are advised to be vigilant and avoid middlemen.

  • State Elementary Schools (20 Pilot Schools): Online registration and selection from 8–19 June 2026.

  • State Junior High Schools (All Schools): Pre-SPMB (online self-service) from 4 June–4 July 2026, followed by Residence Stream (22–24 June 2026), Achievement & Transfer Stream (29 June–1 July 2026), and Affirmative Action & Disability Stream (6–8 July 2026).

A complaint post (posko pengaduan) opened by the Jakarta Barat II Education Sub-District Office (Sudindik) is set up to receive technical registration complaints from prospective students.

The SPMB philosophy is quality education for all, social inclusion, integration, and cohesion.
