Anticipating Impact of Global Conflict, DKI Provincial Government Monitors Fuel and 3kg LPG
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government will monitor fuel oil (BBM) and 3-kilogramme (kg) LPG as a precautionary measure against the impact of global conflicts.
“In the current geopolitical conditions, which remain unresolved to this day, concerning supply chains and fuel, the DKI Jakarta Government will specifically monitor matters related to BBM and 3kg LPG,” said DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung at City Hall, Jakarta, on Friday.
According to him, the monitoring is being carried out due to the high demand for BBM and 3kg LPG in the capital.
Therefore, Pramono said he does not want issues related to BBM and 3kg LPG to be handled late. He also asked all his subordinates to oversee the availability of BBM and 3kg LPG.
In addition to supervision, he mentioned that renewable energy optimisation is also being developed in the capital.
“We must not be caught off guard when problems arise later. For that reason, we are beginning to develop the optimisation of renewable energy use in Jakarta,” Pramono stated.
“I have instructed the ranks of Regional Owned Enterprises (BUMD) to always think about crises. So if there is a shortage, for example, of certain products, we must prepare for it,” Pramono added.
On the other hand, he hopes that the conflict will not last long. However, as Jakarta’s leader, he realises that the situation could impact the capital, particularly in the goods and services sector.
If the goods and services sector is affected, price increases for goods may occur in Jakarta.
“Because first, the supply chain passes through the Strait of Hormuz, where nearly 30 per cent or more of the world’s oil always passes through this strait, including other goods. So if it is closed, the supply chain impact will become even longer, transportation costs for those goods will become more expensive, and the impact on prices will certainly be affected,” Pramono explained.
As a precaution, Pramono has mobilised all BUMDs to jointly face such possibilities.
