Anticipating Global Crisis, Kemkomdigi Shares 5 Tips for Maintaining Internet Connectivity During WFH
The Ministry of Communication and Digital (Kemkomdigi) has shared five tips for workers carrying out work from home (WFH). This step is socialised as an effort to anticipate the impact of global crises so that productivity remains maintained even when working remotely.
The Director General of Digital Infrastructure at Kemkomdigi, Wayan Toni Supriyanto, emphasised the importance of efficient use of the home internet network. Here are the main points:
- Set Activity Priority Scales
Wayan suggested that workers prioritise the most urgent needs during main working hours.
“First, activity priority scales. Prioritise connection usage for productive needs, such as video conferences, sending digital documents, and accessing office applications during main working hours,” said Wayan, quoted on Tuesday (31/3).
- Use Audio Calls If Necessary
If coordination only requires voice or the number of meeting participants is too large, turning off the video feature is a smart solution to maintain communication stability. This step is considered effective in preventing technical disruptions when digital meeting rooms are too crowded.
- Manage Entertainment Service Traffic
Avoid using high-resolution entertainment services simultaneously during working hours. Wayan urged household members to limit 4K or UHD quality video streaming to prevent traffic congestion on router devices.
- Optimise Devices and Wired Connections
Often, the position of devices determines signal quality. Workers are advised to place modems or routers in open areas for better signal reach.
In addition, the use of wired connections (fixed broadband) is highly recommended for those who need high stability.
- Utilise Complaint Channels and Improve Services
If there are prolonged technical issues, immediately contact the official channels of the operator or Kemkomdigi.
“If there are ongoing technical issues, we urge the public to report them immediately through the official operator channels or the telecommunications service complaint channels provided by Kemkomdigi,” explained Wayan.
Finally, for workers with many devices connected simultaneously, it is highly recommended to consider upgrading internet service packages to higher speeds to support smooth task completion.
