The building used by the Little Aresha Daycare has become a victim of vandalism by unknown individuals following the exposure of child abuse actions against entrusted children. After the widespread incidents, the building has now been fitted with banners prohibiting graffiti. The banners were installed by local community leaders.

Observations by detikJogja on Friday (1/5/2026) showed red banners reading ‘This House is Not Owned by Little Aresha, please do not graffiti, damage, or enter without permission’, prominently displayed covering the Little Aresha banner.

The banners were installed in two locations, namely on the northern and southern buildings. In addition to the banners, there were further graffiti marks compared to when the initial graffiti appeared on Tuesday (28/4). These new graffiti still contained defamatory writings.

When asked for confirmation regarding the installation of these banners, the Head of the Yogyakarta City Civil Service Police Unit, Octo Noor Arafat, stated that the banners were put up by local community leaders.

“From the local community leaders considering that the house is a rental. (The banners were installed) on Thursday, 30 April 2026,” Octo explained when contacted this afternoon.

Furthermore, Octo added that Yogyakarta City Civil Service Police Unit personnel are still continuing to guard the Little Aresha site since the vandalism was discovered there.

“Still (carrying out guarding), also coordinated with surrounding residents, Civil Service Police Unit personnel, and the Yogyakarta City Linmas Task Force,” he clarified.

Previously, the condition of the Little Aresha Jogja childcare building on Tuesday morning (28/4) was filled with graffiti containing defamatory writings. It is not known exactly when and who carried out this vandalism.

Observations by detikJogja at the location on Tuesday (28/4) at 09.30 WIB showed graffiti visible on the northern side of the daycare building. Meanwhile, on the southern daycare building, no graffiti was visible. Police lines were still strung across the fence-gate of the daycare.

The graffiti was visible on almost the entire house building. On the front wall near the gate, rolling door, entrance door, and front wall of the entrance.

The graffiti appeared to have been made using black spray paint. The strong smell of paint was detected from in front of the gate. However, no traces of spray paint cans were visible at the location, and the gate appeared to be tightly closed.

The displayed graffiti mostly contained defamatory writings. However, there were also other writings such as ‘Children Become Victims’ and ‘No Sense of Humanity’ in fairly large sizes.

The atmosphere around the location appeared quiet, with houses on either side of the daycare tightly closed without any resident activity. The road in front of the daycare still had considerable vehicle traffic.

detikJogja attempted to gather information from nearby residents regarding the graffiti. However, no definite information was obtained about who did it and when the graffiti was made.
