Anti-pornography campaign
DILI, East Timor: Police have launched an anti-pornography campaign here and planned to target video and laser disks rentals, Antara reported yesterday.
Local police chief Lt. Col. Rachmad Effendi announced the plan yesterday, citing a case of gang-rape which police blame on the influence of pornographic films.
He said 15 male youths, apparently aroused after watching a pornographic video movie, raped a 18-year-old girl recently.
"It's evident the boys raped the girl after watching the porn flick," he said. "This is why we are planning to tighten control over laser disks and video rental shops."
Regarding the gang-rape, Rachmad said police have arrested and are currently questioning a number of suspects. (31)
