Anti-Corruption Commission Seizes Hundreds of Millions of Rupiah in Cilacap Regent Sting Operation
The Anti-Corruption Commission (KPK) has seized hundreds of millions of rupiah in a sting operation (OTT) ensnaring Cilacap Regent Syamsul Auliya Rachman in connection with alleged receipt of project fees, on Friday, 13 March.
“The cash amount secured during this sting operation is in the hundreds of millions of rupiah,” said KPK Spokesman Budi Prasetyo at KPK headquarters in Jakarta on Saturday, 14 March.
In addition to cash, several items of evidence were also secured, including documents and electronic devices.
However, Budi was unable to disclose the case construction in detail. According to him, this would be presented at a press conference later that day.
Nonetheless, Budi confirmed that two individuals have been designated as suspects from among 13 people undergoing intensive examination since Friday evening, 13 March.
“The parties designated as suspects will be announced at the press conference. What is certain is that two individuals have been designated as suspects in today’s disclosure,” he said.
The KPK had previously secured 27 individuals, including Cilacap Regent Syamsul Auliya Rachman, in this sting operation. The remainder consisted of state officials, civil servants, and possibly some from the private sector.
“It is confirmed that today the KPK carried out a closed investigation operation in Cilacap Regency. In which the team secured 27 individuals today. One of them is the Cilacap Regent,” Budi stated earlier.
