Anti-Corruption Commission Reminds Regional Leaders They Need Not Provide Additional Holiday Allowances to Regional Leadership Coordination Forum
Jakarta — The Anti-Corruption Commission (KPK) has cautioned regional leaders that they are not obligated to provide Eid holiday allowances (THR) to external parties, particularly members of the Regional Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimda).
“The KPK reminds us that regional leaders have no obligation to provide anything whatsoever to external parties,” said Asep Guntur Rahayu, Deputy for Prosecution and Execution at the KPK, during a press conference at the KPK’s Red and White Building on Saturday, 14 March 2026.
Asep stated that such allowance distributions should be avoided as they are essential to maintaining the integrity of public office and ensuring that the authority of each institution is not abused.
“Furthermore, the Government has already distributed THR to 10.5 million civil servants, police, and military personnel throughout Indonesia, with a total value reaching Rp 55.1 trillion,” Asep added.
“Therefore, regional leaders need not go to the trouble of providing or sourcing THR for external parties, in this case Forkopimda, especially when such efforts are conducted through unlawful means,” he continued.
The process of sourcing and distributing THR in this manner could potentially constitute a criminal offence or unlawful act. Moreover, it could trigger a domino effect leading to other violations or irregularities.
“For this reason, the KPK urges regional leaders and Forkopimda to share a common commitment to anti-corruption efforts and to support one another in realising the principles of good governance in their regions with full integrity,” Asep stated.
“Through this circular, the KPK reminds all State Administrators and Civil Servants to maintain the integrity of their positions by neither accepting nor requesting any form of benefit related to their office and public service,” Asep concluded.
