Anti-Corruption Commission Conducts Operation Against Cilacap Regent Over Alleged Project Bribery
The Anti-Corruption Commission (KPK) has explained the case that led to Cilacap Regent Syamsul Auliya Rachman being caught in an anti-corruption operation (OTT). The KPK cited alleged receipt of benefits obtained by the Regent from various projects in Cilacap.
“There is allegedly receipt of benefits made by the Regent’s office relating to projects in Cilacap Regency,” KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo told journalists at the KPK building in Kuningan, South Jakarta, Friday (13 March 2026).
A total of 27 people were detained in this operation, including Regent Syamsul.
“Today the team secured 27 people, one of whom is the Cilacap Regent,” Budi said.
Budi stated that the 27 people detained comprised both state officials and private sector figures. He said all those detained are currently undergoing intensive investigation.
“Among state officials and civil servants and possibly some from the private sector, and currently intensive investigation is being conducted there. So far, the information we have received shows no (Deputy Regent) involvement,” Budi said.
The KPK has 24 hours to determine the legal status of those detained in the operation. Currently, those detained remain in the status of being questioned.
