The Anti-Corruption Commission (KPK) has disclosed that its operation targeting Rejang Lebong Regent Muhammad Fikri Thobari and several other parties occurred whilst participants were breaking fast together (bukber) during Ramadan. Initially, the KPK obtained preliminary information from the public regarding alleged bribery in a project case. The commission then conducted further information gathering.

“After obtaining sufficient information, around early March, specifically around 6 March, the team conducted intensive monitoring in the Bengkulu region. On Monday, 9 March 2026, the KPK team discovered a process involving the alleged transfer of illicit funds,” said Asep Guntur Rahayu, Deputy for Prosecution and Execution at the KPK, on Wednesday (11 March 2026).

The KPK subsequently obtained information about a meeting between the parties and a transfer of funds. During this money handover, the KPK arrested several individuals. The money, wrapped in plastic inside a black bag, was handed over by HEP to MFT.

“The KPK ultimately apprehended HEP and SAG as well as several other parties whilst they were breaking fast together (bukber) at a restaurant in the Pantai Panjang area, Bengkulu,” said Asep.

Subsequently, the KPK arrested other parties in Bengkulu, Kepahiang, and Rejang Lebong, as they were located in separate areas.

“From this operation, the KPK apprehended a total of 13 individuals, with 9 of them brought to Jakarta for intensive questioning at KPK headquarters in the Red and White Building on Tuesday, 10 March 2026 in the morning,” said Asep.
